  • Due to the financial problems in Santander it is still unclear if this game is going to take place. The players made an ultimatum to the board saying that if they didn’t resign before the game they wouldn’t play it. The situation is in a stalemate so there is no final decision yet.

Some players have already abandoned Racing because of this situation such as Mid Nieto, Agustin or GK Sostres. Striker Kone had also left but he reconsidered although he hasn’t resumed training yet. To make things worse in the last game against Zamora Oriol , Granero and Mariano ended up injured and only Granero has some chances to play this game. So there is a terrible atmosphere within the group, uncertainty of the future, several months without being paid and a bunch of players that are absent for this match.

Coach Arrasate said that despite the good advantage from the first leg (3:1) they are coming to Santander to win and confirm their presence in the semi-final. As usual in the cup some rotations are expected but a strong team will be in the pitch nevertheless. 3 players were left in San Sebastian to rest: RB Carlos Martinez, DM Markel and FW Vela.
